Run 100 Miles in May 2024

My target 100 kms

25 miles down, 75 miles to go

So far we are doing OK. The body os feeling good. Have had a little set back with Ru being in Edinburgh sick kids with Rota virus for a few days which has made getting time to get out and run more difficult but we're still on track!

Ready to run

The why?

In July 2022 our son Rupert was born. Heathy and huge at almost 11lbs! He was also born with a condition called Bilateral Micropthalmia and 2 very dense cataracts that meant his pupils were nearly completely covered.
After initially being looked after by an  excellent team in Edinburgh we were sent down to GOSH to seek the guidance from their Opthalmology department lead by Professor Lloyd.
At 8 weeks old, Rupert had his first of 2 surgeries at GOSH, which were very difficult but successful. They managed to remove the cataracts and tissue that blocked his pupils, meaning he'd have a much greater chance of seeing.
Ru will always have special eyes and he won't be able to see like most of us can but he is happy, healthy, funny, independent and intelligent. The impact these surgeries have had on Rupert is life changing, allowing him to interact with the world in a way that he would not have been able to without the care from GOSH.
Although, I am in no way looking forward to it, I aim to complete this challenge to give back and show my appreciation to GOSH, especially their amazing Opthalmology department.
Wish me luck and donate what you can!

I’m running 100 miles in May for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to run 100 miles in May to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity).

Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day, around 750 seriously ill children and young people are seen at GOSH from all over the UK for life-changing treatment and care. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs.

And with every mile I run, I’ll be helping GOSH Charity give seriously ill children the chance of a better future.

This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support, so please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
