Swim 8km in March 2026

Fundraising distance goals

Hello everyone. As a challenge to myself, as well as to raise money for  a great charity, I have decided to take on this fundraising activity.

I feel that 8km might not be enough of a challenge for myself, so am going to aim to do 20km in March. This would need me to swim at least a kilometre every weekday for the whole month, which is  fair bit more swimming than I'd usually do.

I'm currently at the end of recovering from a broken thumb, so it'll be also be a nice way to get my fitness back up (suffice to say being injured over Christmas was a bad combination).

Ultimately my injury has been a small inconvenience compared to the situations that many children who go through Great Ormond Street Hospital face. Hopefully I can help to make one or two of their lives a little easier through your donations!

I have linked my Garmin profile to the activity tracker. So hopefully all my swims will automatically appear here? That's the theory anyway!

Fundraising wise, I truly have no idea what to aim for, given there is no official required goal for this event. The suggested goal of £225 might be a realistic expectation, but getting anything beyond that would be fantastic, knowing it will allow GOSH to do more great work.

I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
