Ending On A High!

Hello there everyone! Bobby here! And so, we have finished the event and 1st March is upon us now! The month has finished!

And I have just one voluminous "thank you" message to give, to all of you who have donated, shared the page, sent me wise words of wisdom and more! A voluminous thank you to all of you, who have supported me through the thick and thin, and inspired me to go the extra mile(s).

Overall, we managed to raise over £500 for the cause and accumulated 277km, which is insane!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so very much! It has been an honour to be able to partake in this event! And, hopefully, I can partake in many more events like this, later on in the year!

In the meantime, I'm going to get some rest! And, maybe, celebrate, this weekend! Cheers everyone! Hope you all have a good weekend!

A Big Thank You, Once More!

Hello, everyone. Bobby here, and I'm bringing you another update - this time, I'd like to say a huge "Thank You", to all of you amazing people, for helping reach my third milestone of £300. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. All of these donations are helping me to push myself every day, to go on long walks! And your donations definitely do not go unnoticed!

So, that means we have one more milestone that I have planned. Whether we hit that milestone, is going to be speculative. However, I'm going to go for it! I'll be setting my final target milestone to £500. It'll be a voluminous push to the finish. Some say, it may be unlikely or impossible. However, I'm going to do my best to go for some long walks to end the month on some form of high note, be it mileage and/or money raised on the leaderboard!

While I'm here, there's only one week left to go of this month's challenge! So, if anyone would like to donate and support me on my final week's worth of walks follow the instructions on the right hand side of page to set yourselves up! Otherwise, one week left! Let's give it one final push!

A General Update Post-Dental Operation!

Hello, and good day to you all! Bobby here, with another update once again. As the title of this update states, this is an update for after my dental operation (which happened today) and just what's going to happen.

The operation went smoothly, but I am a little sore in my gums and teeth. I've been told to rest up for 2-3 days and am on a strict diet, which mainly consists of soft-textured food. I've also been advised to avoid excessive exercise for 1-2 days. So, I'll be taking a little bit of a break, supposedly.

However, once we get to either Wednesday or Thursday, I'll be hoping to come back in full throttle, ready to walk again. So I look forward to going at the walking challenges once more.

I also want to say a huge thank you, to our newest supporters of this cause! Your support does not go unnoticed! And we're getting close to that third milestone target, which is amazing! As always, if anyone new here would like to support the cause, feel free to donate by following the instructions on the right hand side of the page.
Otherwise, cheers! Hope you all have a good week ahead!

The Halfway Point!

So, we are halfway through the month, everyone! And so, I bring you another update.

Firstly, a huge "thank you" to everyone who has supported me thus far. It really is the inspiration to keep going. 135km is where we're sitting at, at the moment. There have been quite a few walks done, this month. And that is great! But that could change, for a specific reason. Which is this; I'm going for a dental operation, on Monday 17th, to have two wisdom teeth extracted. This will result in a good few days, where I can't walk as far or won't be able to do any walks at all. It will all be dependant on the operation itself.

That said, I do plan on doing some big walks at the weekend of the operation (again, pending on the result of that). So, hopefully after a few days, you'll be able to see me in action, again!

Anyway, I'd just give you an update on what's happening at this stage, as there is a lot going on right now and I need to prioritise the right moments accordingly. Otherwise, the second half could be an absolute mess.

A huge "thank you", once again for all of your support! And if anyone new here would like to support the cause, and pop in a donation, just follow the instructions on the right. Otherwise, cheers!

Gaming... Monday?

Hello, everyone. Bobby here, with another update once again. I promised to talk about my mini-evening experience, that happened on Monday 10th February. So let's chat!

A couple weeks ago, I was invited up to Frameless Immersive Experience, up in London, for a celebratory GOSH event. Specifically, this was for the Gaming For GOSH group, to which I like to follow and support sincerely.

It should be said I dabbled with Gaming For GOSH, back in 2022, back when it was known as Geek Out For GOSH. During that time I partook in two gaming fundraising events for GOSH - once in the Summer and once in the Winter, in which I raised £300 and £250 respectively.

So, what was the event, on Monday, like? 100% awesomeness! I got to meet some like-minded individuals, all of whom I'd met had done many gaming events in the past, I was in a room with actor and gamer, Adam Sanderson, and I had a few gaming sessions with the group I met.

I also got to meet someone who I'd tried to meet last year, but couldn't get around to doing (this time it was absolutely successful upon meeting). Furthermore I also met up with the TikTok internet sensation, to whom they do the famous "Gary Knows" sketches (we're now following each other on Instagram, which is an amazing bonus).

There was also some charcuterie food and drink for us to have (although I stuck to drinking water, up to the time where I needed to go to use the gents' toilets about 4 or 5 times). And there was plenty of gaming talk. I was able to showcase my passion for a turn-based strategy game I hold so dearly to my heart (and its rivals) and showcase some of the activities I undertake and have undertaken, be it for personal projects or GOSH projects.

All in all it was an immersive experience, if you'll pardon the pun. And I had the most amazing time on the Monday just gone! A huge thanks to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Staff for making me feel so welcomed. And a special shout out to Ben who I'd met at the event (as opposed to missing out on meeting at the last event), who invited me to the event! This is definitely one for the highlight reel!

100km Is Done! What's Next?

Hey guys, Bobby here. I'm back at it again, with another update! So, you may have noticed it but, yes, I have completed 100km. Currently, at the time of this post, I have accumulated 111km.

So, 100km has been achieved. What's next? Well, my plan is continue the walks until the end of month. As always, I'll be recording every walk on Strava so you can follow my progress, as it comes.

It should be said, I have some time off, during these apparent 2 weeks. So, fingers crossed, I'll be able to get some good long walks in. Contrary to that however, I will forewarn you that on the 17th (next Monday) I have a dental operation. So, during the beginning of the week, walks will be minimal in terms of mileage, should they happen. They may end up grinding to a temporary halt, if the aftermath of the dental op, and its consequences, become too much for me.

So, that's where it's at for me. I'm going to take the time before the op to try to get some longer walks in, in order to bump up the mileage. And potentially, thereafter I'll be looking to do the same.

But that about wraps it up for this update. Thanks for reading, and I hope to catch up with you all again soon!

A Big Thank You, Once Again!

Hello, everyone! Bobby here, with a late night post. I just wanted to say "Thank You", to everyone who has helped me reach my second milestone target of £200. I thoroughly and truly appreciate everyone of you, who have donated to the cause!

So, what's next and what is the latest? Well, starting with the latter question, I've been taking short bouts of walking for the last week, with a hopeful desire to return to some form of longer walking stints this week.
Moreover, I have been up to London this evening, to celebrate something special with GOSH (story and photo to follow a little later on in the week).

As far as the former question is concerned, I'll be bringing up the target milestone once again, this time to £300. I have two more target goals in mind. One for £300 and one for £500. However, if we reach £500 anything beyond that goal will just be extra.

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who has supported my fundraising endeavour so far! I'm really looking forward to ploughing on, and everything you guys give, really helps - from the donations, to sharing the updates and posts, to warm words of wisdom. Sincerely, a massive thank you!

A Big Thank You!

Hello everyone. Bobby here with a morning update for you all, right on the day of the event. And I just wanted to say "thank you so much", to everyone who has helped me reach my first goal of £100! Your donations mean an awful lot to me, and to the children of Great Ormond Street too!

So, over the next day or so, I'll be bumping up the target goal, to attempt to achieve the next money milestone.
Thank you, once again, to everyone who has donated and helped support my cause!

And without further ado, let's get stuck in! For GOSH!

And So, We Begin... Tomorrow!

Hello, everyone! Bobby here! And welcome back to another update post! So, we begin our journey tomorrow! The quest for 100km (and, potentially/hopefully, beyond) will start tomorrow afternoon! I'll be hoping to keep you guys updated on various social medias across the field of mine! I'll also be tracking the mileage through Strava, which has been already connected to the app! Each day I do a walk, and each walk in general, will need a day or two to process, so you my not see anything straight away. That said, I do have a contingency plan if it fails. Otherwise, all that's left to say is, "let the games begin"!

Extra! Extra! Get Your Merch Here!

Hello again, Bobby Gotelee here.
So, the event will begin in over 9 days, and I received this lovely item from the team at GOSH! A huge thank you to them, for supplying me with one of these! Bonus ideology is I can now use this as a more casual shirt, for other GOSH endeavours, rather than a challenge-specified one!

And, maybe, this has inspired one of you to sign up for the challenge. In which I say "go for it"! Whether it's your first time fundraising for GOSH or your thousandth. If you do sign up, you'll be rewarded with one of these to wear around your local neighbourhood.

Once again, a voluminous thank you to Great Ormond Street Hospital for supplying one of these for me! And, yeah, I'll be starting in just over a week, ready to get those legs pumping and those kilometres rising!

A Warm Welcome From Bobby Gotelee

Hello there, reader. I'd like to be the first to welcome you to my "100km in February" walking challenge. And what better way to start up, than with a post describing myself a little.

So, my name is Bobby Gotelee. I work in Premier Inn in the Surrey PI region (Basingstoke Town Centre, specifically) and I am a Fundraising Superchampion for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Raising a total of just shy of £12,000, ever since I first started working for Premier Inn back in 2015, I have always had the mindset of charitable professionalism.

I've done quite a variety of charity fundraising events in my time for GOSH - from car washes and London Underground bucket stints, to competitive walking and gaming challenges.

With 2025 starting to roll around, and with a big milestone approaching for myself in the workplace (on the 12th June to be exact), I'd like to do my utmost to make this year my biggest yet, in terms of fundraising activities.
And so, why not start this year with something I've always been a voluminous fan of? Walking long distances.

So, with "100km in February" rolling out, as a challenge, I'd figure I should join in. As a personal avid walker, competitive striding has always been a fun activity for me to do.
Now, of course, this won't be easy. 100km is still a long way to travel. However I'm going to give a real good shot!

If you'd like to donate to the cause, and help support my campaign for a brighter future for children, all of the details will be on the right-hand side of the page!

I'll hope to keep you updated along the way, before, during and after the event. Otherwise, bring on 1st February.

I’m walking 100km in February for GOSH Charity!

Hello there, reader. And thank you for taking the time to read the info, on this page. My name is Bobby Gotelee, a Great Ormond Street Hospital Fundraising Champion from the South-East of the UK (within my current workplace).

As I'm rolling up to 10 years within said workplace, I wanted to boost my fundraising capability this year, in order to mark the anniversary (in which the 10 year anniversary is on 12th June 2025).

To kickstart 2025, in terms of the fundraisers, I’m challenging myself to Walk 100km this February to raise awareness and money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Now, it may be likely, that I'll go over that threshold - as an avid walker, competitive striding is definitely something I thoroughly enjoy.
My plan is to walk every day, in search of any and all distance coverage. The walks I do will be stored on a personal Strava page, which houses all walks of life I do (whether charity-based or personal).

As to why I'm partaking in this event is some information below:

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, more fun and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I walk, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

I'd be very much obliged if you could help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.

And until we meet again, take care. And I'll catch you all on 1st February 2025.
