My break is over!

After feeling poorly at the beginning of this challenge, I still am not over it! But I've given myself a week off, and yesterday I got back to it!
2k down, 6k to go!

I missed the first 2 days of October!

Wow! I have such bad timing when it comes to getting poorly! On Monday, I felt the dreaded sore throat. On Tuesday, I dont know how I lasted the whole day at work, I felt rough. Wednesday, I lasted the day at work, got home, went to bed and that was that. Yesterday, the runny nose hit, and I had a bad night's sleep.
But today was the day!!!!!
I've felt better than I have done all week, so I took advantage of it and went to the pool 🏊‍♀️  I did a cheeky little 20 lengths which totals 500m so far 👏

Target smashed...TWICE!

I am overwhelmed! I thought £100 was a reasonable target - that got smashed. I raised it to £200 - that got smashed this morning!! Ive now raised my target to £300!
Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far, it means the world to me!

First swim in ages!

Today I went swimming for the first time in ages! I wanted to see how I'd do, and I did surprisingly well (I think anyway!)!
The pool is 25m and I did 30 lengths, so a total of 750m!
8km is 8000m, so this swim was equal to 9.37500% of the 8km challenge!

How many lengths is 8km?

I'm about to join a gym where the pool is 25m long. I've worked out that I need to swim 320 lengths of the pool to equal 8km!! That's 160 up and backs!
I will blog on here after every visit to the pool keep a tally of how many lengths I am up to.

I’m swimming 8km in October for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this October to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity, fun, making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults most of us are lucky enough to become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

With every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.

Thank you so much 😊
