Swim 8km in March 2025

First Swim!

First swim today today & we managed 12 laps! When I tell you i’m not a swimmer i’m not lying 😂

Swim for GOSH

Our beautiful little girl was born in July 2024 & it was noted instantly that she had a birth mark on her face starting from her forehead down to the top of her lip.

Medway referred us to GOSH where we started off with the dermatology department. They were happy Marlie’s birth mark wasn’t raised & requested an MRI & eye exam to see if there were any underlying issues.

Marlie underwent general anaesthetic for an MRI, which came back to show there was a small bleed on her brain, later described as a minimal haemorrhage. After a second MRI, it confirmed something was there, but they weren’t concerned.

Marlie will have regular appointments to keep an eye on the bleed & further down the line check if anything needs to be done, if it gets worse or doesn’t change.

We are incredibly lucky that Marlie is in great health & has hit her milestones so far. She is growing, eating, crawling & playing & achieving amazing things each day. We understand many families under GOSH have very different experiences to us, but fundraising helps everyone.

We were fortunate enough to be placed in a hotel over night for Marlie’s MRI, free of charge. All of this comes from fundraising & without it so many families would have to spend hundreds on travel & accommodation to stay with their child whilst in hospital. These rooms have beds, cots, bedding, tv, fridge & medication fridge & a fully accessible en suit bathroom. Fundraising helps fund hotels like these, as well as toys, arts & crafts, special clothing for feeding tubes etc & so much more. Please donate what you can for this incredible charity & amazing hospital 💛

I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
