Well yesterday morning was my 7th kilometre and the 1st wet morning i have encountered since starting swimming in May. Got to be honest if it hadnt bern for this challenge going out at 6.30am in the rain might have bern enough for me to not, and stay in bed instead...but i didnt!!!On the homeward stretch
Another kilometre completed...managed to get to the pool and back this morning before it rained. Sunday mornings are always a pleasure as at 7.30 the pool is relatively quiet and not many swimmers, so i was able to do most of my 40 with only one other swimmer in the lane. Only 2 more days and 2kms until ive completed this. However i am going to carry on going and doing 40 lengths each time...Day 5
Well over halfway now...4km in...halfway
Well not such a sunny morning, but I was at the pool nether the less...managed to shave 5 mins off my total time and another kilometre done!!3rd Day
Well the mornings are darker, but I pulled myself in....this was one of the reasons I wanted to complete this challenge, as motivation to keep me going as the days grow shorter and the mornings darker...2kms down!!
Well on a beautiful sunny morning i got to the pool as I do every Sunday at 7.30am and hit my 2km target (40 lengths) took me 40 minutes today so getting quicker...I do the lengths non stop!!Day 1
Well I did it!!! 40 lengths this morning so 1km down, 7 to go!Ready!!
Well I managed 40 lengths on Sunday 28th so im ready for Thursday to start thus and do the first 1km...bring it on!!Why do this!
I have decided to do this challenge as I was diagnosed type 2 diabetic in May so realised that life changes had to be made. I started cutting carbs from my diet and figured I had better get fitter and lose weight. I have always love swimming( im no gym bunny) so set myself the goal of swimming once a week. My first session I managed 8 lengths in half anI’m swimming 8km in October for GOSH Charity!
I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this October to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).
Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.
That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.
And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.
Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
