Ella & Sophies swimming challenge.

Swim 8km in March 2026

March 24th (8th swim)

Sophie and I, along with friends Lara and Penny, took the train to Brighton today to swim in the 50m Sea Lanes lido.
I'm happy to share that our challenge of swimming 8k in March is now complete. We're extremely grateful to everybody who has donated so far. Thank you very much. Love Ella and Sophie x

March 18th (7th swim)

Not so cold in the pool today and we were very happy to be  joined by our lovely friend Lara :)
Sophie has now completed the challenge of swimming 8k in March! Congratulations Sophie, you've done so well. Two more swims to go for me next week.

March 18th (6th swim)

Beautiful morning and warmer so we were able to swim further. Sophie smashed out an incredible 60 lengths and I managed 42. Both feeling fantastic and on track to meet our target. We have four swims left.

March 16th (5th swim)

Extra cold in the pool today but we both did very well. We asked Will, the lovely lifeguard to take a photo of us but can't share it because after almost an hours swim in 14 degrees we didn't look our best haha.

March 14th (4th swim)

Sadly I was held up and arrived too late to swim. Sophie did brilliantly though and swam another 40 lengths. Here she is in her new yellow hat.

March 11th (3rd swim)

Water temp at Arundel lido this morning was 14 degrees so another very cold swim but we did it and are well on our way to our target. Sophie is over 3km now and I've done over 2km. That may not sound like much but trying to fit this challenge into our busy working and parenting lives is a challenge in itself ;)

March 9th (2nd swim)

Great swim today at Petersfield lido. Sophie smashed out 44 lengths and I managed 30 before getting too slow from the cold. Huge thanks to everyone who’s donated so far. It really means a lot.

March 2nd (1st swim)

Arundel lido was cold this morning but the sun was shining. Sophie swam 40 lengths (1km) and I managed 25 (625m). Both feeling chuffed and optomistic :)

Sophie and I hope to swim 8k this month for Great Ormond Street.

We both enjoy cold water swimming so thought we'd take on this challenge to help raise money for Great Ormond Street. I'm sure some days will be easy and some will be hard, but none will be as difficult as the days the children in hospital are facing! Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. If friends and family can support out efforts we'd be really grateful. Thank you x
