I’m running 100 miles in May for GOSH Charity!
I'm doing this to support my sister Sara, whose 8 month old daughter Bo had 2 terrifying hospital stays in the first few weeks of her life including a late night transfer to the Evelina on blues and twos. It was so frightening but everyone they came into to contact was amazing and really helped my sister and her husband through it and got Bo back to health. I'm happy to say that Bo is now a very sturdy little wide-eyed smasher and I think it's the least I can do to run alongside Small Sis (albeit virtually) to raise money for the amazing people that look after our children and families on the worst days of their lives.
While I have been a very keen runner in the past this challenge is going to be very difficult for me because I can't *actually* run. At least, not on the roads, not without the incline on the treadmill at a minimum of 6% and not without having to walk after about a minute...though that's probably my fitness more than anything else, and the fact that running on an incline is very, very hard. But I'm going to have a go at it anyway, not least because a bit of competition between sisters is very healthy. Or something.
Please give whatever you can, however small for this very worthy cause and support me in my quest to have a tomato face every single day for the rest of May.
I’m challenging myself to run 100 miles in May to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity).
Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day, around 750 seriously ill children and young people are seen at GOSH from all over the UK for life-changing treatment and care. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs.
And with every mile I run, I’ll be helping GOSH Charity give seriously ill children the chance of a better future.
This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support, so please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
