50 Push-ups a Day in November 2026

Why am I accepting this challenge?

Way back in the annals of time when I was child myself, a ten-year-old kid, I had the unfortunate luck of being hit by a fast-moving car.  In many respects it was a life changing event but I recovered. Things could have worked out very differently.

I remember, with great clarity, the kindness and care I received during the period when I was recovering - nurses and doctors constantly monitoring my progress, encouraging me to wellness. It took a while, progress was slow but ... after what seemed to be a long time, I was well enough to return home, to go back to school and subsequently live a full life. I was able to do this because I was cared for and treated by dedicated professionals who refused to give up on me. I have never forgotten.

Taking part in this challenge is my way of sending a long overdue 'thank you' to all those responsible for bringing me back from the edge and making me well again. I was not a patient at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital but I understand their commitment to supporting children and what this means to these children and their families. I am indebted.

 I will complete this challenge

Target hit and onwards ...

Three days in and the target just whooshed by - with your support maybe we could make it £300 - it's all for a great cause, a small or large donation, whatever you can do it all adds to the total. So a big thanks to those who have already given support and a warm welcome to those who might be about to do likewise.

On the move - brilliant!

Half way to my target after less than 12 hrs, really surprised, happy and totally motivated to get this challenge completed successfully. Big 'thanks' to all who have supported. Gar

I’m doing 50 Push-ups a Day in November for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to 50 push-ups a day this November to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every push-up I do, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
