My target 6 kms

We did it!!!! Yippee!!

I am very excited to announce that on our 8th swim , Darren and I swam another 40 lengths of the pool which was our final 1km of the challenge!!

Yes that’s right everyone we have gone and done it, swimming 240 lengths in 10 visits to the pool this month!!  That’s 6km in just over 3 weeks, we are so proud of ourselves!!

Thanks to everyone who has supported us with both encouragement and donations which currently stand at an amazing £410.

We would love to make it closer to £500 if we can for this great charity so if you haven’t already there is still time.

Thanks again everyone, love Gil xxx🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️

6th & 7th Swim of the challenge!!

Hey everyone! Oops! Sorry I forgot to post about my Swim on Friday so here is an update on how the swim challenge has been going over the weekend!!!

On Friday, Darren and I just kept swimming and swimming and swimming ending up completing a massive 42 lengths bringing our total to 4km! Today we smashed out another 40 lengths bringing us to 5km leaving just 1km to complete the challenge!!!

We are also very excited to be so close to our fundraising target of £350 and thank everyone who has supported us so far, love Gil Xxx

5th Swim of the Challenge

Darren and I got up early this morning and headed for the pool!! We thought it might be quiet as it was Mother’s Day and a Sunday morning but boy were we wrong, it was packed!!
We spent most of our lengths dodging other swimmers but still managed to swim  24 lengths which means we are very nearly at the halfway mark of 3k!!
Thanks again for everyone’s support, love Gil x 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️

4th Swim of the Challenge

Wow!! This has been the best swim day of our challenge so far!!
Today I managed to swim further than I ever have before swimming a total of 30 lengths which is 0.75 km!!
I have also been overwhelmed by the donations that I have received and am now only £8 off my £300 target which is amazing!!
Thanks so much everyone, love Gil x

3rd Swim of the Challenge

Wow!! We have just completed the 3rd swim of the challenge and boy was it hard work after a day at work/school!!

Don’t worry though, Darren just about kept up and we nailed another 20 lengths which means that we are very nearly 1/3 of the way there!!

Thanks again for all your support, love Gil x🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️

2nd Swim of the Challenge

Darren and I went to the pool again today for our second swim of the challenge.

The good news is that we managed to swim 4 more lengths than yesterday which means that we have now completed 1.1k in total!!

We are very pleased and thank everyone who has donated so far x

First Swim of the Challenge!!

I have been overwhelmed by the donations received on the first day of my swim challenge!! Thanks so much for all your support.
Darren and I went to the pool this afternoon for an hour and managed to make a good start by swimming 20 lengths which is 0.5K which we were really pleased with. We are heading to the pool again tomorrow and how the get our first k sorted!! Watch this space for updates 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️xx

I’m swimming 6km in March for GOSH Charity!

Hi everybody, I’m challenging myself to swim 6km (240 lengths of the swimming pool) this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Darren will be swimming every length alongside me as we are doing this challenge together. He spent quite a long time in Great Ormond Street Hospital Street when he was a baby receiving life saving treatment so it will be so good if we could raise some money to support the charity that helped him and in turn help others in need.

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
