I’m running 100km in September for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to run 100km this September to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity). Please help me to achieve my goal of £900 by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.

Third week

Setting a new personal best at junior parkrun and achieving a longest distance run of 8.33 km in under an hour in this week have been big accomplishments. It shows his dedication and the improvement in his running. 🤙🏻

With another 27km down and only 23km left to go to reach the 100km distance target in the final week, Sammy keeps plodding on. Having smashed previous targets, he's very close to achieving the £750 mark, which is incredible. 😀

On the overall leaderboard of the challenge, Sammy places 17th for money raised and 58th for distance run in a field of of over 250 people!! 🏃🏼💵

Seeing stories of other kids on the GOSH Facebook page really touched Sammy, bringing him to tears, but it also helped him grasp the impact of each donation. This understanding motivates him even more in his own journey. ♥️

Second week

Sammy has completed a further 24.5km (51.4km total) at the end of his second week of the 100km challenge, despite two days without running. This was aided by his longest run to date of over 8km! 🏃🏼

With 39km left for the next 14 days, he is starting to find the challenge tough now as he doesn't get any recovery days with the amount of other activities he does. Despite this he is still fronting up and getting the job done. 💪🏻

Having smashed the original target of £225, then the second target of £500, he is now aiming to raise at least £750. This has only been made possible by the generosity of people supporting him. ♥️

First week

Sammy has completed 25km in his first week of the 100km challenge. He has really embraced this challenge and is doing amazing. On Thursday it was a real struggle to do 2km before diving practice due to him suffering with a stitch, he powered through. Saturday and Sunday Parkrun he got a personal best for both, 5km on Saturday 28mins 40secs and 2km on Sunday 9mins 43secs. We tell Sammy about each donation he receives and his little face lights up every time. Thank you all for donating and sending him messages of support, it is all really spurring him on.

About GOSH Charity

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I run, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.
