My target 8 kms

Final push

On Friday I swam 4km (which was 160 laps) and had to call it quits… I was exhausted! Today I did the last 1.5km… then another .5km just to be sure I had done it!! Even though I had to squeeze my 8km into five days I am so pleased I did it… Upon reflecting I think I actually did far more than 8km, maybe closer to 10!

1.5km up! Last minute dotcom

Yesterday I swam another 1.5km… today is the final push for hitting my 8km. I’m going to swim 220 lengths of my local pool which will be the 5.5km i’m missing. it will be hard but i feel ready… let’s get this done!

Sadly no swim this week

It has been increasingly hard to get swims in, between working and not having access to a swimming pool I have resorted to also adding my running and walking activity! I tried to sea swim today but I didn’t check the tide times so unfortunately it was a no go… did get to put my feet in the water though!

Hit 1km

Today I did 40 laps of my local pool which equated to 1 kilometre! So relieved to have that under my belt already. Only 6.9km to go!

First 100m!

Completed my first 100 metres today, in the sea. It was very cold!! But for a worthy cause 🩷 Already looking forward to my next swim 🏊🏼‍♀️

I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.

Wow, 8km, that is a lot of water to push out of the way. I hope you have fun and make sure to put all the water back where you found it at the end. Also remember to concentrate so you don't swim 8km directly downwards by accident. Anyway best of luck.
