The why and motivation.

In March I will be swimming 8km/5 miles (over one weekend) and at the end of May I will be competing in a Half Ironman distance triathlon to raise money for The Great Ormand Street Hospital charity.

Great Ormand Street has been at the forefront of our minds for a few months now as our Little Margo is under their care.

Shortly after Margo was born, it was brought to our attention that she may have Craniosynostosis. After a long journey we were then referred to specialists at Great Ormand Street’s Cranio Facial Team to where it was confirmed that yes, she has the 1 in 2,500 chance condition and will need surgery to correct it. After a few journeys from St Just to London we are now awaiting a pre-op and then a date for the operation.

Any donations will be hugely appreciated and I also hope this brings awareness towards Craniosynostosis and how amazing the staff are at Great Ormand Street.

I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.
