2nd sea swim

Attempted an 8k swim from Sandbanks to Boscombe Pier today in the name of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Made 6k and had to bail for an unforeseen reason. I was meant to eat 30g carbs every 2k on the water. However the sea was way too rough to eat so ended up swimming 6k with no carbs at all. Had to come in past Bournemouth pier to eat with a view at that point to continuing on to Boscombe Pier. It was however to little to late carb wise, completely depleted I had to get picked up on the cliff top.. I’m not disappointed because if I had managed to get the carbs in I would have hit 8k comfortably with poss 10k in sight.. Did a 4K sea swim on Wed in sensible conditions and managed to fuel easily on the water.

With regards the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital October challenge. That’s 8k to be completed in the whole of October so happy to have hit 10k in the first week of that and will continue to plod on through the rest of the month and update then. I will however be winding the milage back so I can crack on with my other day to day sports. Approaching £200 donations now so thanks very much everyone I honestly wasn’t expecting any where near that..!

1st sea swim

First swim of the month was a 4015m open water sea swim in Bournemouth. It took 1:51 and was cold towards the end..

8k October swim

I’ll be swimming 4x2k open water sea swims in Bournemouth throughout October for GOSH..!

I’m swimming 8km in October for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this October to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
