My target 100 kms

I’m running 100km in September for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to run 100km this September to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity). Please help me to achieve my goal of £250 by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.

GOSH & Idris story

Hello, I am Monika as you probably know me, mum of gorgeous little (not really little) boy Idris.
I have decided to participate in this challenge to test myself and my ability to do hard things (running) and to contribute to the amazing services that GOSH provides for families.
Why GOSH?
In 2020, in a peak of Covid very suddenly, we have received a heartbreaking news that our son, Idris, just before his 1st birthday was severely ill.
As you can imagine it was very frightening time for all of us, myself and Idris have been isolated in various hospitals weeks at the time, without being able to have anyone at the hospital except myself. Doctors been doing numerous test, but couldn't find the answer to his illnesses and the forecasts of the future with each test were sounding more and more upsetting.
Ultimately, we have been taken under GOSH care. At this point Idris been around 18months old and he was extremely aware, that doctors usually do not so nice things, that hurts him. Blood test especially were very tricky for Idris (and myself emotionally) having play staff at GOSH made the biggest difference in that area! Consultants were brilliant too and we knew that we were having the best care.
Fast forward, Idris is now a very active and smart 6 year old. He is healthy, happy and surprises us daily with new jokes or tricks :)
We talk about the time and GOSH and he remembers only the fun he was having at the hospitals and no fear of doctors of needles (we still have them very regularly)!
Doing this challenge I would like you to donate whatever you can or share it with others. Together we can contribute to the same level of care for others and their little ones in the darkest of times.

With love,
Monika 🩷

About GOSH Charity

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I run, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
