5K to Go(!)

I cannot believe I am typing this... we have one final 5K left  to go(!)

In truth, I thought I would have to walk the final 20K. I felt I was hitting a block; my times were slower and distances shorter. So I decided to be kind to myself and take my foot off the pedal for a few days, even if that meant not quite being able to meet my goal. I'm glad I did because that's what allowed me to recover enough to complete 8 miles today! I felt strong and I felt powerful.

One of my favourite things about running is that these lessons apply also in our everyday life. It's okay to slow down, and reserve some energy for tomorrow. It's okay to adjust your goals. And you never know, you might just go even further than you ever hoped.

Thank you for all your incredible support and well wishes. It fills my heart with joy and gratitude. We're a team, helping to support GOSH together. I couldn't do it without you.

I'll see you on the next starting line.

One Week to Go

We hit a block.

Due to health reasons, I took a week off running. This has been both frustrating and daunting. I did my first run back, a 10K, reduced from 15K. My time is slower, it was more painful and I felt like crying nearing the end.

So quickly can progress slip. But I heard that even when you fall, the climb back up will be smoother and swifter.

One week to go, 40K ahead of me.

That is a big number. But I am determined. I will not give up here.

Thank you for your support and I will see you on the next starting line.

The Beginning of a New Starting Line

We're back running for GOSH charity.

Even in the height of training for the London Landmarks Half Marathon, my PB was 73K total running in one month. That was a year ago.

My running habits have since long tailed off. I only ran 7K total in January. A part of me fears this 100K challenge will be too big for me. But a small voice within wills me forward.

I am a long-standing supporter of GOSH charity. I believe in the cause. Every run, every step, every kilometre, is worth it.

As usual, I will be documenting my running journey on my Instagram  @a_nataliemay so follow for more frequent running content/updates.

I will see you on the next starting line. Thank you for your support 💜

I’m running 100km in February for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to run 100km this February to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I run, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
