Why I'm doing this!
This will be second time climbing the Walkie Talkie building - the first time was back in 2022, and the reason I'm doing it again is because 2026 marks 40yrs since I contracted Pneumococcal Meningitis, part of the treatment for which was done at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The first time I did this, my time was around 12mins - I'm not setting out to beat that, but if I can get close I'll be chuffed!!
I’m stepping up for seriously ill kids
I'll be climbing 36 floors and 896 steps up London's iconic Walkie Talkie building on Saturday 28 March 2026 to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
No childhood should be cut short by cancer.
Research and treatments have dramatically improved survival, but cancer is still the biggest killer of children aged one to 14 in the UK.
GOSH needs a new home for breakthrough treatments, so we can save more children’s lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden and so much more.
