I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

My name is Oakley, I’m 11 years old. I’m doing this charity swim for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) because they are very special to my family.

I have a sister who is terminally ill. She has been in and out of hospital more times than I can count, and GOSH has been a huge part of her life. She’s had brain surgery there, and without the doctors and nurses at GOSH, my sister wouldn’t still be here today. They saved her life, and for that I will be forever grateful.

I’ve seen my sister be so strong, even when things hurt or she was scared. GOSH helped her through some of the hardest moments of her life, and they helped my family through ours.

That’s why I wanted to do something to say thank you.

I swim for a local swimming club and I’m going to do my Kilometres whilst at my club each week!

This swim is for her.

It’s for all the children at GOSH who are fighting battles most people can’t see.

And it’s for the hospital that gave my family hope when we needed it most.

I might only be 11, but I know how important GOSH is. They don’t just save lives — they change them. If my swim can help raise even a little bit of money to help another child, then every single length is worth it.
