Swim 8km in March 2025

Our Story

Please read and donate if you can & share if you don’t mind 😉

A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated we are super grateful

With some extra bad news added today George has a fracture in his vertebrae which means more appointments and support from GOSH so please if you can dig deep and support us with this challenge ❤️

Just a few days until we get started 🏊  our first swim will be on Sunday morning ❤️

As most of you know Great Ormond street is close to our hearts. For those who don’t know let me give me a little more insight as to why… at the age of 4 months  George was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. My brother Peter also had the same and he sadly left us at the age of just 25.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness and degeneration.
George has to visit GOSH minimum of 4 times a year and the care he receives is second to none.  This is why it’s so important we raise funds for this amazing hospital.

Any donation for myself and Kelly Drake to complete this challenge no matter how big or small is very much appreciated. We are just trying to give back to the hospital that looks after George so well ❤️

Thanks for reading my essay 😂😂

I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
