'Catch Up' - Half Marathon 21.21KM
For a number of reasons (mainly catching some horrible nursery bugs) I found myself with two days to go and 25km to run.... My husband (who comes from a family, all of whom seem to have run multiple marathons, half marathons, ironman challenges, generally impressive stuff) casually suggested I could just do a half marathon tomorrow to 'catch up' like it was a stroll to the shops.... I haven't run further than 10km since 22 March 2015 when I did the Reading Half Marathon. But, challenge accepted and I wasn't willing to not reach my 100K goal so off I went. I was met at around 16KM by the ultimate support crew which was the best surprise and after a few haribos (most of which seemed to have been mysteriously consumed on route to me), it gave me the little boost to reach the end (albeit slowly!)GOSH 100K September Challenge
Over the course of September, I have run 100K for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSH Charity). As a busy Mum of two small people who has just finished a house build, I find myself juggling work, drop-offs, dog walking, endless laundry and I thought the last thing I would choose to do in my precious free time is run. However, I decided to challenge myself to run 100K in September to raise money for this fantastic charity. Anyone that knows me knows that running is not my thing and 10K in a month would have been out of the ordinary but I have found myself really enjoying the peace and quiet of putting on my trainers and plodding along with the dog.
I am so incredibly lucky to have two beautiful and healthy children who bring me so much joy everyday but I am very aware that this is not the case for everybody. Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day, around 750 seriously ill children and young people are seen at GOSH from all over the UK for life-changing treatment and care. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs.
I hope that raising even a little bit, I’ll be helping GOSH Charity give seriously ill children the chance of a better future.
This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support, so please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
Thank you and I will be resting my feet for a little while now :)
Fantastic achievement - an inspiration to all of us xx
