Final 800m Swam! 8K October Fundraiser Complete!

That's it!

8000m swam to raise money for sick kids
Stretched out the last 4000m to fit in with the rest of my schedule, but glad that I was able to see it through to the end!

Thanks to everyone who pitched in to help support the cause! We smashed the fundraising goal in time for the start of November, so well done to everyone who contributed!

We've made the new year that bit easier for seriously ill children up and down the UK, so massive well done guys!

Happy Halloween, and again, thanks for supporting such an awesome cause!

Day 7/8 complete! One day remaining to complete the challenge!

That's 7200m swam, 800m to go!

Nothing much to say about today's swim, one more left to cap off this challenge.

Thanks to everyone who has donated and sent messages of support! One final push for the kids - let's smash this fundraising goal!

Wednesday 0.8K Complete! Two days remaining!

Morning 800m swim for Wednesday our the way!

1.6K/8K total remaining, switching my strokes up in the pool to keep things exciting.

Let's keep get these last two days done and dusted!

Tuesday 0.8K Done! 3 x 800m more to go!

Another 800m swam!

Not too difficult considering the 4000 last week Saturday, but challenging enough to trigger some level of resistance to doing it. Glad it's checked off for today now!

Again, thanks to everyone who has supported the campaign and messaged me personally, it means a lot! A cheeky excuse to excercise, in support of a really great cause!

Monday 0.8K out of the Way! 4 more days to go!

800m for Monday has been completed! Another 800m everyday until Friday 31st to finish the challenge!

Forgot my cap and goggles at the pool yesterday, but the lovely staff at Streatham Rec helped me recover them from lost and found! Massive thanks to the team!

32 laps a day is honestly light work compared to 160 laps in one sitting, so today's swim was a leisurely one!

Thanks so much to everyone who has supported the campaign so far! I feel the love through the screen!

Over halfway there - let's smash this fundraising goal for the kids :) !!!

Whoops ! Change of Plans - Monday to Friday to finish of October!

Whoops !

Didn't realise that Sundays at Streatham Rec open an hour later than on Weekdays. Waiting for my turn at the pool as I write this entry!

Not enough time for my full 32 lengths/0.8K swim before I catch the train for my 11 mile hike from Dover to Deal later today (The White Cliffs Path).

Will hop in the pool as a warm up for my 5 sessions next week! Every little helps!

5 * 32 lengths (800m) from 6:30 to 7:30 is the plan. See you in the next entry!

First 4K Complete! 5 more sessions to go!

I have completed my first 4K swim!

The goal was originally to do 8K in one go, between 1:00pm and 6:00pm!

320 lengths of a 25m pool (160 times up and down), at a 1 minute per length clip, for 5 hours.

It's ended up taking me that amount of time to do half! No worries - fall seven times, get up eight!

The new plan is to do the remaining 4000m split across 5 days. 0.8K a day for the math enthusiasts out there. Finishing off the months with a wm for the kids.

5 more sessions to go!

I’m swimming 8km in October for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this October to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
