My target 8 kms

I’m enjoying the late night swims!

It’s hard to be motivated to go out at 9pm on a cold evening to go swimming, when you feel like curling up in bed, but knowing my virtual swim buddy went this morning spurred me on and I’m glad I did it. It felt good to be in the water and I enjoyed trying to do more front crawl today to give my knee a rest (it’s sore from all the breastroke!). Completed 1500m - my longest swim - even though my watch didn’t record 100m of it because I swam with a float and legs only! Total  complete = 4828m

Dragged myself to the pool today

Feeling very tired all week, and after being out for dinner last night I really didn’t feel like swimming this morning. Dragged myself to the pool and tried to keep in mind the kids that are treated at GOSH and how much some of them have to endure. Swimming for half an hour is nothing in comparison. It was a hard swim, but managed a couple more lengths than this time last week so still on track to complete the challenge. 3.3k down, 4.7k to go.

Swim 2 of the challenge

Still aching from the first swim on Saturday, I thought today would be harder, but actually it wasn’t too bad and I enjoyed it. I even managed to swim further in the same amount of time! Evenings are looking more promising than early morning swims at the moment, and it was definitely more enjoyable.

Starting as I mean to go on

First time in the pool in over a year so this was hard!  But I was determined to get started as I mean to go on and kept going. I think the longer pool length helped psychologically (not as many lengths!). 1,056m today. Feeling wobbly but great!

I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
