One last swim tonight

Managed to fit in one last swim tonight and added 1500m, bringing my total in March to 10km!
So glad I took up this challenge. It’s given me the kickstart I needed to do some exercise and raised a bit of money for GOSH in the process. Thank you to all my supporters and people who have donated. ❤️

I did it!

Yeah! I added another 1000m tonight and completed the challenge! My son came along for support and swam with me too, which was brilliant, and much needed, especially when I got a stitch 10 lengths in.

I still plan to go once more before the end of the month and hoping to hit 10km total. After that, I’m planning to continue swimming at least once a week, and setting myself a target 1000m min per swim.  It’s been a great challenge and helped me massively to kick start my exercise routine.

A massive thank you to all my supporters who have spurred me on and encouraged me to keep going.and for everyone who gave a donation. It means so much and every penny counts for GOSH. Thank you! Keeeep swimming!

Almost there!

It’s been a busy week and hard to carve out time for a swim, just about managed to get to Hatfield swim centre today before it closed. Another 1188m added, bringing my total to 7,516m - so close to completing the challenge!

Another 1.5km in the bag!

Enjoyed my swim tonight and added 1.5km to my total, bringing it to 6.3km! So I’m well on the way to hitting 8km!

I’m enjoying the late night swims!

It’s hard to be motivated to go out at 9pm on a cold evening to go swimming, when you feel like curling up in bed, but knowing my virtual swim buddy went this morning spurred me on and I’m glad I did it. It felt good to be in the water and I enjoyed trying to do more front crawl today to give my knee a rest (it’s sore from all the breastroke!). Completed 1500m - my longest swim - even though my watch didn’t record 100m of it because I swam with a float and legs only! Total  complete = 4828m

Dragged myself to the pool today

Feeling very tired all week, and after being out for dinner last night I really didn’t feel like swimming this morning. Dragged myself to the pool and tried to keep in mind the kids that are treated at GOSH and how much some of them have to endure. Swimming for half an hour is nothing in comparison. It was a hard swim, but managed a couple more lengths than this time last week so still on track to complete the challenge. 3.3k down, 4.7k to go.

Swim 2 of the challenge

Still aching from the first swim on Saturday, I thought today would be harder, but actually it wasn’t too bad and I enjoyed it. I even managed to swim further in the same amount of time! Evenings are looking more promising than early morning swims at the moment, and it was definitely more enjoyable.

Starting as I mean to go on

First time in the pool in over a year so this was hard!  But I was determined to get started as I mean to go on and kept going. I think the longer pool length helped psychologically (not as many lengths!). 1,056m today. Feeling wobbly but great!

I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
