GOSH#25 - Final Run, 100 miles complete
9 mile final run today, combined two of my local runs, road and trail. Legs were really heavy due to the mileage this week but felt good once I got going. The final trail hill climb back home was a challenge but my run partner gave me inspiration. Awesome challenge and really pleased with what I’ve achieved considering the lack of running beforehand. Thank you for all of the support and donations to such a great charity, really appreciated. Looking forward to keeping the running going, be it slightly less mileage as a weekly goal! Thanks again 😎💪🏃♂️🥳👟GOSH#23&23 - Nipple chafe & blisters
11 miles in 2 runs today, 6 miles before work and 5 miles this eve. Nipple chafe, blisters and heavy legs. End is in sight, 91 miles complete and final 9 tomorrow. Plan to complete one final run 😎🏃♂️👟GOSH#22 - Muddy Trail run
2nd run of the day and quite a muddy woodland trail. Legs surprisingly feel good considering but manflu cut this one short. Rest ready for tomorrow’s 2 runs. 80 miles complete, 20 to go 💪🏃♂️GOSH#21 - Poetry trail in reverse
Run 1 of the day, legs feeling heavy after 10 miles yesterday. Half road and half up hill trail run. 4.5 miles and total of 76 complete, 24 to go 😎🏃♂️GOSH#20 - Big push
Run #2 today, another 5 miles, total 10.5 for the day. Legs are feeling much better this week but a head cold is not helping the cause. 71 miles complete, 29 to go in 3 days. I will do this 🏃♂️💪😎GOSH#19 - Ffynnone Falls dog run
4 loops of the trail today with the spangle and Man-flu. Another 5.5 miles complete, 66 in total and 34 to go. 🏃♂️💪GOSH#18 - Manflu Poetry trail run
4.5 miles completed today with man-flu! 61 miles complete 39 miles to go 🥳🏃♂️💪GOSH#17 - feeling the burn
Hard on the lungs today with few steep hills on route so not the best performance. However, another 6 miles complete, 44 to go in 5 days 🏃♂️😎GOSH#16 - Morning dog run
50 miles in 16 runs yay!🥳GOSH#15 - 1 week to go 😬
4 miles today, 47 complete. Still along way to go, no rest days this week! 💪🏃♂️GOSH#14 - calm before the storm
8 days to go, 43 miles complete 57 to go 😬 It’s going to be a fun final week 😎 Had my running partner Spaniel back with me tonight 💪🏃♂️🐕🦺GOSH#13 - Day 21 and playing catchup
Thanks for all the support and donations you rock 🥳🎉 Okay so haven’t run for 4 days since Thu due to having some strange issues physically and feeling shattered, ending with a thorough check up at A&E on Sat. Seems that after blood tests, stats and chest x-Ray the chest pains I’ve had for 4 days are just muscular🤦♂️ Got back on it today and appreciate I’ve got alot to do, feeling positive. 40 miles down, 60 to go in 10 days 😬💪😎GOSH#12 - half way point! 🥳
Day 16 and now half way in time but not quite mileage. That’s okay as I’m sticking to the plan and not being a runner I need to be realistic. Legs are tired today so just a short run as per the plan. 36 miles completed and 64 to go 🥳🏃♂️GOSH#11 - Almost half way!
Day 15, managed another 3 miles today so 34 done and 66 to go. Following my plan I’m still on track but this week the distances double, should be interesting! 😬👟💪GOSH#10 - Week 2 Progress
End of week 2, 14 days in and completed 31 miles. Not the progress I was planning if I’m honest but I’ve struggled this week, knackered! On the plus side the last 2 runs I have felt much better and seen an improvement in pace over 5K. 69 miles to go in 17 days, so need to step it up a bit 🏃♂️➡️🦵😎 Thanks for all the support ❤️GOSH#09 - Ffynone Falls
3 loops and 3 miles of the woodland track to the falls with the fambam and woofers. Couple of dips in the falls along the way! 28 miles done, 72 to go 😎🏃♂️GOSH#08 - Scorchio
No run yesterday due to travelling. Early morning run before the heat but still scorchio. Despite the pace it felt a bit easier today, I think early morning runs on an empty stomach are better suited! Day #11, 25 miles done, on track but need to start ramping up the miles! 75 to go 🏃♂️🥵GOSH#07 - Hot & Sweaty
Rest day yesterday so back to it today in the heat. Managed 3.6 miles after work with a colleague around our head office local park. 22 miles done, 78 to go 😎💪🏃♂️GOSH#06 - Week 1 complete (6 runs in 7days)
Hard work today especially in the heat and without my hairy companion. not quite the finish to the week I was aiming for but still happy that I’ve completed over 18 miles in week one, more than the tough mudder plan I’m following. Hoping week 2 starts to get a little easier! 82 miles to go 😎💪🏃♂️GOSH#05 - Active Rest day
Just a short leg stretch with the spangle today. London tomorrow so some new (hopefully flat) routes to try. 16 miles done 84 to go 😎💪GOSH#04 - Running on a Sun?!
Had a rest day yesterday, so legs were feeling good today. However, suffered badly from lung burn today so it was hard work. 14 miles down, 86 to go and two more days to beat the 16 miles goal for the first week 🥳🏃♂️GOSH#03 - Slow and Steady!
Today wasn't about pace but small gains. 6 Miles with the spangle a couple of killer hills thrown in. 89 miles to go 😎💪GOSH#02 - Active Rest Day
Feeling the thigh burn today and with the horrendous west wales weather decided to keep it local. Just a short 1.4 mile leg stretch as per the plan ready for tomorrow 😎GOSH #01 - Lets go
I’m off, 3.36 miles done 96.64 to go and a pace that I definitely look forward to improving! Probably should have chosen a flat route for the first run I’ve done in a couple of years! Betsan my Spangle had a great time though and kept on checking to make sure I was alive!I’m running 100 miles in May for GOSH Charity!
I'm not built for endurance running, more 100m downhill so I’m challenging myself to run 100 miles in May to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity).
In 2018 my now 8 year old son was referred to the awesome GOSH team for tests which eventually led to diagnose that he had Lymphodema. His condition has a huge impact on his life but thankfully it’s manageable. Unfortunately, many kiddo's and families that visit GOSH are not as lucky as we are so this charity is absolutely essential to help fund the research and support that many 1000s of ill children visiting GOSH require.
Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day, around 750 seriously ill children and young people are seen at GOSH from all over the UK for life-changing treatment and care. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs.
And with every mile I run, I’ll be helping GOSH Charity give seriously ill children the chance of a better future.
This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support, so please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference. You never know I may also become addicted to running!!
