Swim 8 - 1,575m

Final swim completed.

Last quick swim done. Great first challenge. Loved every second of it and very proud to have raised money to such an amazing cause.

Thank you for all your support awesome people.

Swim 7 - 3,150m

Swim 7 - Completed.

Today was a game changer for me. I recently purchased some Shokz Open Swim Pro headphones to help with my swimming. By god was it awesome. Working out to music has always been a preference but didn’t know it was possible whilst swimming. Today I not only found out it is but it’s awesome but it has an impact on the speed per 100m as well as the overall calories burnt. I really enjoyed today’s swim and looking forward to my next one.

Swim 6 - 2250

Unfortunately I’ve had to have a little bit of time out of the pool, work has been hectic (work in care & do 24 hour shifts) & my hearing aid adjustment has taken a little long than anticipated causing pain to my right ear.

Good news though, I’m back. Today was great. An enjoyable lane swim. I was happy with the timing and distance today. I have purchased some shocks open swim headphones and looking forward to taking these for a spin soon. Looking forward to getting back to it regularly again now.

See you all tomorrow.

Hearing Aids & Swimming

This week unfortunately I have not been able to enter the pool. However I did do a few short walks to keep the momentum going.

From my previous posts you would know that I recently got hearing aids fitted, well the adjustment has been a little more challenging that I thought and that added to having life long issues with my hearing meant that in order to adjust fully I needed to keep my ears dry during this time. I am happy to say that I have adjusted nicely during this time it also helped keeping them in without any breaks. So I’ll be back at it again on Sunday and look forward to getting back in the water again and completing more km’s for this awesome cause.

Thanks for your support!

Swim 5 - 1000m

Swim 5 was a little disappointing.

Unfortunately my swim this morning did not go as planned for a number of reasons. Firstly I was delayed due to work, shifts needed changing and covering and this unfortunately ate into my swimming time this morning.

Secondly, my gyms online app timetable was not up to date, this meant that when I thought I had an hour to complete my swimming goals I in fact only had 30 mins which means I only achieved half of what I intended.

Lastly, I was also disappointed with my timings this morning. My swim was slower than I wanted. This was for a number of reasons, one my legs got cramp, second the ladies who were going to taking part in the aqua aerobics entered the pool early and blocked the lanes.

On a positive note I’m still glad I got a swim in even if this was not the wanted.

Swim 4 - 2025m

Today’s swim was an overall success.

Started off well in a communal lane and then was able to move to a private one ten minutes into my session which was a rare treat. I still focused on improving my pace as well as my form. Got improvements to make as well as a lot of weight to lose but one step at a time.

Swim 3 - 2350m

Swim 3 was a success!

I started off with a warm up 500m & followed by a 1500m continuous stint and finally a 350m cool down.

This session lasted just under an hour which is my target, however today I was prepared to swim for longer unfortunately I needed to attend a hearing aid check up.

I am on track to complete this challenge early, however I do intend to continue swimming in order to raise more money for this amazing cause.

Swim 2 - 1275m

A short morning swim was completed this morning. It was done alongside the women enjoying there aqua aerobics session. This was great as the lane was quiet and the music coming from there class gave me additional motivation.

Overall shorter than I would have liked today. I had a hearing aid fitted today and wanted to get a swim in before that happened.

Swim 1 - 2,575m

Participated in the adult only late night swimming at my local pool. It’s brilliant the lights are dimmed and is not only an excellent experience but a sensory appropriate one for that time in the evening.

Overall I was happy with my swim, the length and time.

I’m swimming 8km in March for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to swim 8km this March to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I swim, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.

Well, well, well… you’ve finally found a way to combine early-onset frostbite, extreme chafing, and the noble art of flailing about like a confused walrus—all in the name of charity. Bravo! Your decision to embark on this epic swim for diabetes is, quite frankly, both admirable and borderline insane. Most people support medical causes with a tasteful bake sale or a sponsored silence. But not you. No, you’ve chosen the “throw myself into freezing water repeatedly until my limbs forget how to limb” approach. Revolutionary. In honour of your soggy crusade, I am donating a sum—not because I doubt your determination, but because I genuinely question your sanity, and feel some contribution is owed for what must be the most heroic act of aquatic absurdity since someone tried to bathe a cat. May your cause be successful, your Speedos remain structurally sound, and your dignity—well, let’s not aim too high.
