We’re stepping up for seriously ill kids
Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page. We’re climbing 36 floors and 896 steps up London's iconic Walkie Talkie building on Saturday 28 March 2026 to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
I'm Becky and I'm 21 years old. I was treated by GOSH for systemic onset JIA from my diagnosis at age 4 through to 18. This is a form of juvenile arthritis that means my immune system attacks the lining of my joints and can cause painful inflammation. 10 years ago this Christmas period, in 2015 I developed macrophage activation syndrome, a rare but potentially fatal complication. On New Years Eve I was rushed into GOSH via the Children's Acute Transport Service (CATS) and spent 3 days on a life support machine in ICU. I later spent a month recovering on Penguin Ward and a further 3 years on daily injections, medication and physio. This was a scary time for myself and my family but GOSH supported us through it all. The money raised by the charity goes towards so many important causes for example parent accommodation next door to the hospital which allowed my parents to stay near me while I was in ICU. My JIA is now thankfully stable and I have been able to lead a normal life including studying pharmacology at university, a decision inspired by my time at GOSH! The staff at GOSH saved my life and 10 years on I wanted to give back to this amazing charity and hospital.
No childhood should be cut short by cancer.
Research and treatments have dramatically improved survival, but cancer is still the biggest killer of children aged one to 14 in the UK.
GOSH needs a new home for breakthrough treatments, so we can save more children’s lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden and so much more.
Help us raise funds for this important cause and sponsor us to take on the tower!
