One small step…. One GIANT Landmark Building!
On 28th March, I’ll be swapping the comfort of ground level for something a little more… vertical.
I’m taking on a charity climb up the iconic 20 Fenchurch Street — better known as the Walkie Talkie building — all in support of the incredible Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Now, for those who know me, you’ll know I’ve never been one to shy away from a physical challenge. In my 30s I ran six London Marathon races. That’s 26.2 miles, six times over — early mornings, relentless training, hitting “the wall” and pushing through it. So yes, climbing a skyscraper in my early 50s should be more than achievable…
But let’s not pretend this is a gentle stroll.
Hundreds of steps. Relentless incline. No flat roads. No pacing yourself downhill. Just gravity, burning calves and lungs reminding you that you’re no longer 35. It will be strenuous. It will hurt. And I suspect I’ll question my life choices somewhere around the halfway mark.
But here’s the thing.
Every step I take up that building is nothing compared to what the children and families supported by Great Ormond Street Hospital face every single day. GOSH provides world-class treatment to seriously ill children from across the UK and beyond. They fund groundbreaking research, pioneering treatments, and provide life-saving care to families at their most vulnerable moments.
This isn’t about ticking off another challenge.
It’s about backing a cause that genuinely changes — and saves — lives.
I’m aiming to raise at least £7,500 for this incredible charity.

I’m stepping up for seriously ill kids
I'll be climbing 36 floors and 896 steps up London's iconic Walkie Talkie building on Saturday 28 March 2026 to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
No childhood should be cut short by cancer.
Research and treatments have dramatically improved survival, but cancer is still the biggest killer of children aged one to 14 in the UK.
GOSH needs a new home for breakthrough treatments, so we can save more children’s lives. And because cancer shouldn't get to steal anyone's childhood, we need a place that's more than a hospital – a place that's a school, a playground, a garden and so much more.
