My target 100 kms

First Run

So I have started a couple days early due to commitments with appts at GOSH every week with Stanley for his chemo, scans and many outpatient appts (he is under multiple specialists due to side affects of chemo, radio and proton beam therapies, cancer etc) I dont want to fall behind and not be able to achieve the whole 100km...

Today I completed 2.1 miles jogging which is 3.3km! (Plus extra with the warm up walk 😉)
My first time ever walking out the door in running gear and planning a run! I am so proud of myself, I thought I may not make it and wondered "why have I signed up?"  "People have donated I need to do this"... then I thought of Stanley, the days he was learning to walk, talk and even swallow again, if he can do that I can shift my over weight butt and jog!
So myself and Logan (the dog) just kept going 🤣

My legs hurt, my lungs got a shock... but did I enjoy it?? I absolutely loved it 💚💚

Why im running

Hi im Kirsty, our son has been a neuro-oncology patient at GOSH for just over 4 years now. We have gone through every emotion possible and some we didnt think existed!
Stanley is 10 years old and the happiest little boy, over the last 4 years he has spent more time in Hospital than he has at home.
GOSH charity has given support without even knowing such as accomodation, play therapy, play team etc. They are a lifeline for our son. Stanley has also given permission to the family stories team to share his story and photographs to support the ongoing cancer centre build "BUILD IT BEAT IT" as well as multiple other projects.

Now for the fun part, this will be a massive challenge for me, running is not something i do easily or at all, however I am currently on a lifestyle change/Health kick not only to better myself but also for my children, Stanley is terminal and i want to be healthier and fitter for him and his sister so i can enjoy making more memories with them both.

I’m running 100km in February for GOSH Charity!

I’m challenging myself to run 100km this February to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).

Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.

That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.

And with every kilometre I run, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.

Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
