100km for Great Ormond Street Hospital — Why This Matters to Me
This February, I’m taking on a personal challenge: running 100 kilometres in one month to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). It’s not about times, medals, or personal bests. It’s about purpose.
As someone who’s become a parent in the last couple of years, my perspective has shifted in ways I didn’t expect. You suddenly see the world through a different lens — one that’s more protective, more grateful, and far more aware of how quickly life can change for a family.
Why GOSH Is Close to My Heart
Great Ormond Street Hospital isn’t just a hospital; it’s a lifeline. It supports children and families through some of the most frightening and uncertain moments of their lives, providing specialist care for complex and rare conditions — and pushing boundaries through research and innovation that gives children the best chance of a healthier future.
Behind every donation is something incredibly human: families holding onto hope, and teams of clinicians doing extraordinary work every day. The reality is that much of what makes GOSH exceptional is only possible with fundraising support alongside NHS provision.
Why I’m Running 100km
Running 100km across February is deliberately uncomfortable. Cold mornings, tired legs, fitting runs around work and family life — it’s meant to test me. But that discomfort is tiny compared to what children and parents supported by GOSH face.
This is my way of doing something tangible: turning effort into impact, and using a personal challenge to help fund something that genuinely changes lives.
Why We Should All Play a Part
You don’t have to run 100km to make a difference. Charities like GOSH thrive because communities step up — people doing small things that add up to something huge.
A donation. A share. A message to a friend.
Every bit helps fund vital equipment, specialist support, and research that can save and transform young lives.
Thank You
If you’re reading this, thank you for taking the time. If you’re able to support or share, I’d be genuinely grateful. This is a cause that feels even more meaningful to me now as a parent — and I’m proud to play a small part.

I’m running 100km in February for GOSH Charity!
I’m challenging myself to run 100km this February to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).
Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.
That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.
And with every kilometre I run, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.
Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
