Thoughts as a mum
As the parent of someone who needed the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital for most of their childhood, for both inpatient hospital stays and regularly as an outpatient for scans, treatment and tests, I would like to raise some money to help future generations of children undergoing treatment of any kind.Even short outpatient visits can be highly stressful for children undergoing scans, blood tests and treatment: needles; huge, noisy machines they have to lay inside; tubes inserted; explanations they don't understand.
As well as supporting research and medical equipment, it is the in-hospital play teams who try to help children relax during their medical tests and scans, the entertainment, the provision of toys, books, electronic games, the patient hotel providing accommodation near the hospital for children and parents to spend the night before surgery which are the things that ease the experience a little for the children.
I would be grateful if you are able to support this with any amount you can.
Thank you
I’m running 100km in February for GOSH Charity!
I’m challenging myself to run 100km this February to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity).
Childhood is special. It should be a time of joy, wonder, curiosity and fun. Of making friends, making mistakes, and growing into the adults we become. But it’s also fragile, and sometimes all too brief.
That’s why Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by Great Ormond Street Hospital every day, for children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere, for this generation and all those to come. Because no childhood should be lost to serious illness.
And with every kilometre I run, and every pound raised, we’ll be helping to give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible.
Please help me to achieve my goal by giving whatever you can; no amount is too small to make a difference.
