We’re running, walking and wheeling to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH)

Ed, Nick and I will be wheeling, walking and running (frantically to keep up with Ed on the downhills and flats and incredibly grateful for the uphills where I stand a chance of catching him) 5k to raise money for GOSH

We have been a GOSH family for 10 years - since Ed was 6 weeks old.   We are lucky to have access to a wide range of support and care through GOSH - not just for Ed but for all of us

Ed is one of about 200 children that GOSH have looked after with extensive venous malformations over the last 20 years and his is REALLY extensive.  His malformations go through his muscles, bones, ligaments and joints.  They impact his mobility and he also has some clotting issues (both clotting too much and not clotting enough)

He has recently had his 16th operation at GOSH.  We have a team from dermatology, haematology, orthapaedics, orthotics, physiotherapy, psychology and interventional radiology involved in his care.  They can’t cure him but the team are working to mitigate and minimise the impacts of his conditions on him and undertaking ground breaking research which we are incredibly lucky to be a part of.

GOSH is a very special place.  Every day 619 children and young people from across the UK arrive at GOSH.  Every day doctors and nurses battle the most complex illness and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs.  And every day is a chance for all of us to make a difference.  This extraordinary hospital has always relied on charitable donations and that is why we are fundraising and it is so important to us
