Why am I doing this?

To put it really simply, Great Ormond Street Hospital has saved my life time and time again and I’ll do everything to support the whole hospital.

From my diagnosis in 2020 to my kidney transplant in 2023; they have been through it all. So giving something back to allow them to save more lives is the very least I could do.

What all the nurses, doctors, consultants, play specialists and everyone behind the scenes do is absolutely incredible. All of them have a special place in my heart. They all go above and beyond for every single child. Even during the most scary times of my life I was able to smile, and that is only thanks to them.

The way they listen to the patients is incredible. All my concerns and worries are always resolved so quickly. They care about each child as their own. I remember being on dialysis for 12 hours a day but Tash and Michelle always finding a way around my never ending list of cadet camps and events. They knew how much it meant to me and made it work (even if it meant I was a bit late to school every Wednesday 😂😂).

Being on the ward was always the last place I wanted to be however, when those times came around Charlotte and Chloe made it so much more enjoyable. Our uno tournaments made my day and was a massive motivation to keep getting better so I can play again. Everyone on the ward would do their best to keep me from missing out on too much. I remember one admission that ran over when I had a cadet camp; and the chances of me being discharged were minuscule. However, everyone worked so hard for me to be able to have day leave to go on camp. Admittedly, I was only on camp for about an hour before I had to go back. But I wouldn’t have been able to even attempt going if it wasn’t for the hard work of the doctors and nurses. I have so many stories like this but I think I’d be here forever.

When I was in year 11, my year group did a series of cake sales and other fundraising events for Eagle ward and raised over £800!! All of which was used to fund more entertainment for sick children.

Not only did they support me as the patient but also my entire family. My mum was always the parent that stayed with me so she was always the one who saw me at my lowest lows. The amazing family therapy team helped her through that time. And when my dad came to clinics he would have everything explained to him and all his questions would be answered. My brother was only 9 when I was diagnosed but the way that all the staff spoke to him and helped him understand was incredible.

As my time at Great Ormond Street comes to an end, I have realised just how special this hospital is and no adult hospital could ever match how incredible they are. So because of this I will never stop spreading awareness and fundraising in any way I can for GOSH.

So please, if you can donate then please do. If you can’t then please share my page. Thank you so much for your time. Have a wonderful day.

I’m joining the race to help beat childhood cancer by taking part in RBC Race for the Kids

I’m taking part in GOSH Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise funds to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Cancer is the biggest killer of children aged one to 14 in the UK. But a child doesn’t have to die from cancer for it to take their life. Living with cancer is different for every child. It can mean countless rounds of debilitating treatment. Seeing your siblings through the windows of an isolation room. Not knowing when you’ll sleep in your own bed again. It can mean missing out on parties and playdates and trips to the park. It can mean missing the moments that make up a childhood.

But we won’t let it.

We won’t let cancer steal childhoods.

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers. Pioneering research is underway to find the most effective treatments and cures, which give hope to children and their families.

But the rapidly changing pace of cancer medicine has outstripped GOSH’s existing cancer facilities., and the hospital needs a new home to help deliver breakthrough therapies. Somewhere that will treat the child, not just their disease.

That home will be the new Children’s Cancer Centre at GOSH.

The funds raised from RBC Race for the Kids will help build a world-class facility with children at its heart.

A place where children have access to play and education alongside pioneering treatments. Where families can stay together through some of the hardest moments. Where access to outdoor space is a priority, and a focus on nutrition helps fuel recovery.

Please sponsor me to take on a 2k or 5k for GOSH Charity. Together we can build it. Together we can help beat childhood cancer.
