Miles For Smiles

The Great Family Walk 2025

All the funds raised from The Great Family Walk will go towards the development of cancer care at Great Ormond Street Hospital. In the event that costs change, or the needs of the hospital or patients change, we reserve the right to redirect funds for use against the hospital’s most urgent needs.

Dog On A Mission

13th June 25

Another few miles done, and this time, we had a very enthusiastic paw-tner! 🐾

Immy joined us for today’s walk and absolutely thrived in the sunshine 🌞 Tail wagging, tongue out, and leading the pack like she’s in charge of the whole challenge. We might be doing 42 miles, but she’s aiming for 100!

Loving the weather, the company, and the cause! 💛

No miles today… because it’s Dexter’s 10th birthday! 🎉💛

8th June 25

We've pressed pause on our charity walk to celebrate the amazing boy who chose to do this challenge for his birthday.

Today is all about cake and celebrating the kind, thoughtful, and inspiring boy he is.

Happy birthday, Dexter! We are so proud of you 💛

Rain? Miserable skies? We’re still walking!

3rd June 25

Today was cold, soggy, and perfect blanket weather - but we laced up and got those steps in anyway. We’re not letting a little downpour slow us down.

Even our dog, Immy, came along and kept giving us the look that clearly said: “Remind me why we’re not on the sofa?”

2 Miles Down, 40 to go!

1st June 25

We’ve officially taken our first steps on our 42-mile charity challenge, and no one has gotten lost yet (win!). The family’s still smiling, and our legs are standing strong. Just 40 more miles to go!

Miles for Smiles – 42 Miles, 6 Feet, and a Whole Lot of Blisters!

Hi! We’re Mum, Dad, and Dexter—a slightly overambitious but very determined family walking 42 miles this June to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Why?

Because Dexter, our soon-to-be 10-year-old, decided that for his birthday this year in June, he wanted to do something kind for children who are unwell. We were equal parts proud and panic-stricken. But here we are—lacing up our trainers, braving the British weather, and stretching muscles we didn’t know we had.

Why GOSH?

Great Ormond Street Hospital is a place full of heroes—doctors, nurses, and the bravest kids you’ll ever meet. They provide life-saving care, pioneering treatments, and support for families when they need it most. We think that’s worth every step (and every sore toe).

In all seriousness, 42 miles felt like a real challenge (The Lemosho route of Mount Kilimanjaro!)—one we could take on together as a family. It’s our way of showing that even small feet (and slightly tired adult ones) can go a long way when it’s for a good cause.

We’ll be walking through sore feet, unpredictable weather, and snack negotiations, but it’s all for a brilliant reason.

How You Can Help

We’re not asking you to walk (you’re welcome). But we would be so grateful if you could support our journey by donating. Every penny helps:

Fund vital equipment and research

Support families going through unimaginably tough times

And give more children the chance to smile again

No donation is too small—£1, £5, or the price of the coffee we’ll definitely be having along the way.

Please help us turn birthday wishes into real-world impact.

One mile, one smile at a time.

With thanks,

Team Miles for Smiles!
