We are joining the race to help beat childhood cancer by taking part in RBC Race for the Kids // Nos hemos unidos para ayudar a vencer el cancer infantil siendo parte de la carrera RBC for the Kids.

We are taking part in GOSH Charity’s family festival and fun run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise funds to help build the new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Cancer is the biggest killer of children aged one to 14 in the UK. But a child doesn’t have to die from cancer for it to take their life. Living with cancer is different for every child. It can mean countless rounds of debilitating treatment. Seeing your siblings through the windows of an isolation room. Not knowing when you’ll sleep in your own bed again. It can mean missing out on parties and playdates and trips to the park. It can mean missing the moments that make up a childhood. 

But we won’t let it. 

We won’t let cancer steal childhoods. 

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) already cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers. Pioneering research is underway to find the most effective treatments and cures, which give hope to children and their families. 

But the rapidly changing pace of cancer medicine has outstripped GOSH’s existing cancer facilities., and the hospital needs a new home to help deliver breakthrough therapies. Somewhere that will treat the child, not just their disease. 

That home will be the new Children’s Cancer Centre at GOSH.

The funds raised from RBC Race for the Kids will help build a world-class facility with children at its heart. 

A place where children have access to play and education alongside pioneering treatments. Where families can stay together through some of the hardest moments. Where access to outdoor space is a priority, and a focus on nutrition helps fuel recovery.

Participaremos en el festival y carrera familiar de la organización benéfica GOSH, RBC Race for the Kids, con el fin de recaudar fondos para ayudar a construir el nuevo Centro Oncológico Infantil del Hospital Great Ormond Street (GOSH).

El cáncer es la principal causa de muerte entre los niños de 1 a 14 años en el Reino Unido.  Vivir con cáncer es diferente para cada niño. Puede significar innumerables rondas de tratamientos debilitantes. Ver a tus hermanos a través de las ventanas de una habitación de aislamiento. No saber cuándo volverás a dormir en tu propia cama. Puede significar perderse fiestas, citas para jugar y salidas al parque. Puede significar perderse los momentos que conforman la infancia.

El Hospital Great Ormond Street (GOSH) ya atiende a niños con los cánceres más difíciles de tratar. Se está llevando a cabo una investigación pionera para encontrar los tratamientos y curas más eficaces, que den esperanza a los niños y a sus familias. 

Pero el ritmo vertiginoso de la medicina oncological ha superado a las actuales instalaciones oncological del GOSH, y el hospital necesita un nuevo hogar que le ayude a ofrecer terapias de vanguardia. Un lugar que trate al niño, no sólo su enfermedad. 

Ese hogar será el nuevo Centro Oncológico Infantil del GOSH.

Los fondos recaudados en la RBC Race for the Kids ayudarán a construir un centro de categoría mundial cuyo corazón son los niños. 

Un lugar donde los niños tengan acceso al juego y a la educación junto con tratamientos pioneros. Donde las familias puedan permanecer unidas en algunos de los momentos más difíciles. Donde el acceso a espacios al aire libre sea una prioridad y la nutrición contribuya a la recuperación.
